La Dama de Negro

El pasado miércoles, aprovechando que es el día que hay descuento en el cine (y que además me hice socia del CineHoyts Friends, que me da descuento presentando mi carnet de identidad), fui a ver esta película nueva de Daniel Radcliffe, quién interpretó por varios años a Harry Potter. En realidad fue bueno verlo sin esa marca en la cabeza, como que le dio un cambio que espero que le siga dando frutos.
La película está ambientada a finales del siglo XIX, donde Mr. Kipps (Radcliffe) es enviado a ver el testamento final de la Sra. Darrow como prueba de que tiene buen futuro en la firma de abogados que contrata sus servicios. El lugar de destino es una casa vieja que ha estado abandonada por un par de años en un pueblo, donde una vez se produjo una tragedia.
Habitantes desconfiados y totalmente opuestos a la idea de que un extraño se meta en sus asuntos o que vaya a esa casa dan el punto de partida a una historia de terror, misterio, de encuentros inesperados y la imagen recurrente de Mrs. Kipps (falleció cuando dio luz a su hijo). El lugar está en medio de un pantano, donde la marea sube y baja, como si estuviera en una propia isla a la cual hay que solicitar entrada.
Nada es lo que parece, pero me atrajo la idea de esta película (no estoy cien por ciento segura) que supuestamente toma como base el cine noir (o cine negro) de principios de siglo, precursores del cine de terror.

Once Upon a Time

One of the many series that deal with children book´s stories. I had read an excellent review at the beginning of the year, and another one on the day it was premiered in Latin America. I was a little bit curious about how it would be; I had started watching Grimm, but never made it past the first episode because my mother didn´t like it and of course, didn´t catch up so I finally gave it up altogether.
The real issue was that at the same time, another channel was showing CSI: NY and well, I´ve been following that show since it started (I think I might have lost a couple of episodes), but then I saw that it was a rerun, so I switched channels for good.
I watched the first episode and I simply connected with it. So, it started with Snow White and her prince and then, the twist of the story (won´t tell you so that you look at it too, if you haven´t already) was the contrast with real life parallel. I thought it was really good that they stood by the essentials, but I could see that it wasn´t exactly like them...I mean, the idea of looking through personal issues that these characters might have been through before they became a legend, seems pretty interesting.
And well, caught a glimpse of the next episode and definitely going to see it again. I can always watch CSI: NY another day.
