Jamie Oliver´s meals
I don´t remember exactly the first time I heard about Jaimie Oliver´s meals. But he surely knows how to get people´s attention. I started watching the show and suddenly I´m getting all these new ways of making salads and dressings, desserts, drinks, breakfasts; cooking recipes in Italy, in Spain....
Last Friday I was talking about this really quick idea for a pizza, and my sister Fernanda talked about the time that she saw Jaimie cook pork chops with a raisin filling and a bean salad... and I´m sure this was just a coincidence...today they were repeating that same recipe.
So, I´m not really a big fan of raising but just seeing Oliver making the filling and preparing the bean salad, and I got hungry. Then, it hit me, today is daylight´s saving time so it was time to get something to eat. And then it was Jaimie in Spain and he was doing this really good-looking tomato salad; I just had to get myself up and fix myself something to eat.
I opened the fridge and all that was left from the weekend was fish with rice and tomato. So I took out a plate and put the fish and the rice in the microwave. In the meantime, I cut the tomato, added mint, oregano, olive oil, salt and lemon juice, mixed it up just as the final beep from the microwave let me know that my meal was done.
And you know, the best part of it was, that when I finally got to eat the fish with the rice and the tomato, it was all juicy, tasty, incredibly tasteful and worth every single bite.
So if you haven´t seen or heard about Jaimie Oliver maybe you can tune on his show on Fox Life or on the internet, because he makes the simple dishes and makes them exquisite and feels like you´ve never tasted something like that before. I have to confess I have sort of become an addict to his food, and I recalled that Loreto, my sister in Barcelona, was asking what the big deal was about this Oliver, and it suddenly hit me: in just half an hour or longer than that, you can create the most amazing meal using what you have and making it special.
